British Virgin Isles with Van Insurance
The British Virgin Isles consist of around eighty islands and have been able to keep their British character.
The British government in 2000 commissioned a report on offshore financial industries and it was reported that over forty per cent of the world’s offshore companies were formed in the British Virgin Isles. The islands are now one of the leading financial centres in the world and have one of the highest incomes per capita in the Caribbean.
Tourism is an important part of the British Virgin Isles economy and make up about forty-five per cent of the national income.
There are only about sixteen inhabited islands in the group and these are either flat coral islands or steep volcanic islands.
The climate is sub-tropical with easterly trade winds but in recent years have been the subject of several hurricanes although these have caused relatively little damage and occur mostly in October or November.
The islands are a popular destination for sailors and fishermen and for the wealthier independent traveller.
